One of the most exciting programs is identifying
and meeting descendants of the students and teachers of the PFI.
We meet them in such unexpected ways. These encounters are most
helpful in piecing together the social history of the Institute.
Descendants have shared primary sources that reveal information
about how the girls traveled to the school, what they wore, who
were their best friends, and what secrets they shared.
Descendants have been kind to loan, donate or
sell family mementos of the school for our developing collection.
We have original textbooks, furniture, paintings, sketches, a diary,
a diploma, and catalogs. We also have compiled a descendant database.
This list includes the names of more than 1,000 students registered
at the PFI over a span of 40 years. We also have some oral histories
from descendants.
