This is the official living history troupe of the
Patapsco Female Institute. Named for Almira Hart Lincoln Phelps,
the famed educator of the PFI from 1840-1856, the troupe is involved
in researching social customs and dress during the early Victorian
years prior to the Civil War.
In addition to designing and sewing their own
period clothing, faithfully researched and created, the men and
women present 19th century Living History one Sunday a month during
the summer at the park. At that time they take on the persona of
one of their favorite 19th -century figures, whom they have studied.
The troupe also is involved in Heritage Day every September, the
Victorian teas, and the Victorian Holiday Open House.
To raise funds for their activities, the Society makes
custom-ordered dolls complete with traditional19th-century clothing
and a selected name.
